Science

The rest of this ledger records transactions. This part records results, which need a different rule.

Everywhere else, a figure cites the outlet that reported it. Here a claim cites its paper: the link goes to the preprint, the journal or the agency release rather than the coverage of it, because coverage is a weaker source than the thing it covers. A result whose only source is a science-news aggregator is left out. Failed replications, retractions and disputed claims are in; a record that carries only triumphs is a worse record.
